100 km challenge

From August 2006 to July 2007 Otari Wilton’s Bush celebrates its centenary year. The Otari Trust has organised a calendar of events (some with a ‘100’ theme), and encourages you to take part in the Otari 100 KM CHALLENGE.

Otari has over 10kms of excellent walking tracks through the  bush. These tracks are well maintained, colour coded and sign posted for easy navigation. Use the ‘Otari Wilton’s Bush - Native Botanic Garden and Forest Reserve’ brochure, produced by the Wellington City Council, as a guide.

The approximate distances of the tracks are detailed on a map on this website and at the Otari Information Centre. If you are a regular visitor to Otari, keep a record of the distances you cover and see how long it takes you to achieve 100 KMS in total.

Track Colour
Total Distance
Blue Trail 2.33 km
Yellow Trail 1.46 km
Red Trail 1.44 km
Circular Walk 1.60 km
Nature Trail 290 m

We hope 100s of people will enjoy clocking up 100kms to celebrate the Otari 100 Centenary. When you have run or walked 100kms email your name to admin@otari100.org.nz and we’ll record it.  A return walk from the Churchill Drive car park and round the Blue Trail is 3.90 km - complete that 26 times - and you’ve reached 100km! or just 62.5 times round the Circular Walk and you’ve done the distance.
