Otari Wilton’s-Bush Trust has several dedicated teams of volunteers.
But we always need more volunteers with energy and enthusiasm for Otari.
Contact one of the volunteer teams below to join in with their projects.
Or contact us with a new idea that you could help develop and coordinate.
.
Revegetation
Volunteers work together on the first Saturday of each month planting, or caring for the plants in the revegetation areas. During the winter the group will be planting every Saturday.
Be at the Information Centre Te Marae o Tane on
Contact Wilbur Dovey 04 499 1044 to check details.
Seedlings
A group of volunteers meets on Thursday mornings to pot up seedlings, weed, plant and generally help the staff wherever they can. 8.30 am is the starting time at the Information Centre but volunteers are welcome to come when convenient to them
Contact Margaret Crimp, 475 3263 m.crimp@xtra.co.nz ; or phone the Otari office 475 3245.
Hosting
Hosts welcome visitors to Otari at the Information Centre between 10.30 am. and 4 pm each Saturday and Sunday. There are 2 shifts of 2.5 hours each day.
More Hosts are needed to ensure full coverage and extend the hours. Many visitors come and find no welcoming face to tell them about Otari.
Our goal is to have more welcoming faces more of the time, and better facilities for visitors. Training will take place on March 15 and April 12 2008
Contact Margaret Crimp, 475 3263, or Sue Usher, 479 6857.
Guiding
We need more guides too. Volunteers guide visitors on various walks around Otari.
You don’t have to be an expert already – training provided. .
Contact Margaret Crimp, 475 3263.
Administration
The more projects we undertake, the more paperwork there is – sad but true. Most of this is done by the Trust Board members, but we’d really love your help. Some of the work is soothing - like recording information, or folding newsletters - and some is exciting and challenging – like writing up proposals, and applying for grants!
Contact Johanne McComish 06 364 2445, or Margaret Crimp 475 3263, or email us at admin@otari100.org.nz
Other projects
From time to time we need volunteers for special events such as track building, Open Day or Clean up NZ week.
We put out the call for volunteers in News and Views (the Trust newsletter) and on this website.
